“It’s not easy to hear. But we need to say it. Birth can be distressing sometimes. So much so, it’s traumatising”
— Dr Rebecca Moore, Co-founder
‘Trauma’ is a big word
Sometimes too big.
What we really mean is that you felt intensely afraid, fearful, out of control or helpless when you were giving birth, when you were (trying to get) pregnant or after you had your baby. We’re here to explain what birth trauma actually is: when it happens, why it happens and how it happens.
Trauma is often taboo
We’re speaking up.
We must break down the taboo around traumatic birth experiences. We’re here for everyone who gives birth, for their partners, their babies, their family. We’re here for the professionals who are there by their side. For everyone on the road before birth and the path ahead.
Think Trauma Now Campaign
WE WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT BIRTH TRAUMA
In 2020 we launched our #ThinkTraumaNow campaign to look at birth trauma in light of the pandemic. In 2023 we launched a new three year strategy for the next phase of #ThinkTraumaNow, which is now a grassroots campaign that’s being co-led by our Champions, our core team and three influential Campaign Ambassadors.
Our new mission focus: we want everyone to know about birth trauma and how to find support.
In 2024 we were proud to welcome The National Lottery Community Fund as the primary funder of this campaign.
