Volunteer your time

Become a Make Birth Better Champion.

Our champions volunteer their time and share their voice so we can make birth better for all. The group is a mixture of parents and professionals, all passionate about driving change.

This is a totally flexible commitment and you can choose what you do depending on the amount of time you have available, as well as your interests e.g. campaigning, writing a blog, sharing lived experience, promoting @birthbetter online.

To become a champion, a short onboarding online training course must be completed. Once this is done, you’ll be invited to join our champions meetings once every half-term on zoom.

We also welcome our supporters to share their insights and stories on our blog and social media. If this is something you’re specifically interested in click here.

If you’re interested in becoming a Make Birth Better Champion - please fill in the form below - we’d love to have you. You will receive a follow up email from us with next steps on how to join our community. Please allow a few days for a response as our inbox is a busy place.

I am a Student Midwife coming towards the end of my 2nd year of training. I am so proud to be a champion. It helps me to develop my own understanding, skills and awareness of perinatal trauma and how I can support myself and those I care for, but I now have a role as an activist for change.
— Liberty - Make BIrth Better Champion
It took me probably 2 years to recognise that what happened to me was birth trauma, and not just that I coped badly or that I couldn’t manage or I was a rubbish parent. Let’s empower each other and spread this vital knowledge about birth trauma so people are sufficiently supported from the start. Together we can create lasting change.
— Hannah - Make Birth Better Champion

Our champions are currently working on loads of ideas and projects including shaping new trauma-informed training for antenatal educators, co-creating a new poster and toolkit for birth trauma and refining our approach to equity, diversity, inclusion and anti-racism. We are also raising funds so we can recruit a new Community & Campaigns Lead in our core team who will work with champions to deliver against our ambitious Think Trauma Now campaign plans.
